City of Zion – In Vermont?

Wealthy Mormon engineer, David Hall has a dream to build an elaborate, 20,000 person community over four small towns in Vermont. He’s been quietly buying hundreds of acres near the birthplace of Joseph Smith, founder of the Mormon Church, and has hired an army of architects and engineers. Rural Vermonters are pushing back. “His dream is our nightmare.”

NewVistas is proposed to be a sustainable, high tech, high density realization of Joseph Smith’s 1883 utopian vision. It is said that a plat plan appeared to him while he was studying the Old Testament prophet, Enoch, “who designed a city so perfect it was whisked off to heaven.”
